Family Holidays |
|
About 10 years ago, I was on a family holiday in Florida and we came across a stand-alone craft shop. It was a fantastic craft shop run by friendly people which, sadly, isn't there anymore I don't think. I loved it because it meant that I could still have my craft fix on holiday (my mum likes crafts too so it was pretty easy to persuade my dad to drive us) and they sold lots of different American cross-stitch kits that I'd never ever seen in the UK.

I came across these Victoria Heart samplers and thought they were such a good idea and a perfect way to remember my holidays to Florida. When I found out there was a design for every US state, that inspired me to want to travel to all of the states (something I've not yet done, but I would still like to try!). Each design shares the gold heart border but the different elements in each design represent that specific state. I'm entirely sure yet what I'll do with all of the hearts - maybe I'll make them into a throw?

School Trip 2004 (I haven't technically been to Maryland, but my dad said it would be the closest thing to Washington D.C., for which there is no heart sampler) |

Then, some years later when I starting taking holidays without my parents, I discovered that Victoria sampler had also make International Hearts for several different countries around the world. So, naturally, I had to start collecting those too.

Several family holidays to Florida and the New York/Washington trip. Really must visit the West Coast someday! |

Mini-break with Lizzie and Alex - beautiful country! |
I did go a bit overboard and buy kits for a lot of countries that I haven't been to, but would like to one day (especially when I heard that they were discontinuing the series). Just need to go to those places now!
